What is wrong with me? I have all the symptoms but no.....?

On Saturday my left tonsil started feeling a bit sore, so I looked in the mirror and it was red and swollen. I immediately thought "tonsillitus" because I am prone to it with my background of allergies and deep holes in my tonsils, however, 4 days later it is slightly more sore but I don't have any white pus. It is only on one side and I only have a slight fever. Could this be viral? My body aches, my eyes and head hurt and I just feel generally exhausted. My mum refuses to take me to the doctor because she says they won't give me antibiotics unless I have pus on my tonsils.
