Where can i get my birth certificate?

Hello.. is it possible i can get a birth certificate here in NYC and where can i get one from? by the way i was bron abroad and i have a birth certificate from abroad, but my school said they need one from here since am applying for financial aid. they need one where it states my Father and Mother names. the one i have only provides my full name. thanks a lot and i appreciate your information and time.
