Best place to live as a student in Lyon?

I'm moving to Lyon for university in September 2011, and I am currently trying to find somewhere lively, cheap and within easy reach of the city centre and the uni. I will be going to Lyon II Lumiere, which is in Bron. Could anyone recommend me which areas or arrondissements of Lyon would be good to start looking?
