Severe foot/ankle pain?

Back in April, I had an accident where I sliced open the top of my foot. I got stitches, and everything seemed okay. Within a few days of getting the stitches, the wound got infected with staph and it turned into cellulitis. Since then, I have been hospitalized twice for this and given antibiotics so often I'm likely immune to them all by now. The infection has cleared up, but here's the problem. Once the swelling goes down, it only stays that way for a week or so. I'm able to work without pain (I'm a chef) and things are great. Out of the blue, my ankle will begin to swell up on its own, with no new injury other than being on my feet at work. The doctors have done x-rays, MRI's, sonograms, and a few other things to determine what is wrong, but all tell me it is just in my head. I find this unnacceptable since my ankle looks like a grapefruit and is nearly impossible to walk on when it swells up. I should note that I do have flat feet, and have never really had much trouble with them until recently. Ever since April when the initial accident occurred, my ankle has had a mind of its own, swelling up and running its course for a week or more before I'm able to stand/walk pain-free. I have tried looking up different things to try pinpointing a cause but come up short. Any help with this would be great since it is really starting to get on my nerves.

You are not a wuss. This is common in many people after tooth extraction. Be kind to your mouth and let it heal and you will get well. Taking antibiotic is a good thing to rule out infection.

I had an especially bad bout of a cold/flu that lasted about a week. My doctor gave me antibiotics to be used ONLY if I developed a "secondary infection." The flu is gone, but my nose is now runny, I have pressure on the sides of my nose, my temples and neck ache, and I'm sneezing. I still have a lingering cough and some discolored mucus. Kitten's eye infection?

Recently I found 2 stray 8 week old kittens. I took them to the vet yesterday he said one of them had an eye infection and gave me antibiotics for him and to keep the eye clean. I looked at him this morning and the infection has caused one of his eyes to stick shut. Should I try pry the eye open or just keep it clean and wait for it to open on its own with the antibiotics?

Gallbladder removal im not sure?

so im 17, my appendix burst about 3 months ago so i was in the hospital for a few days and had to get it removes. Well i still had horrible diarrhea and i was getting sick for awhile after...throwing up everything i would eat:/ so i went back to my doctors and it took them weeks to figure out what was wrong. finally they figure out it was Clostridium difficile. well i took all the medication for that and have been taking other pills to put the good bacteria back into my stomach. they said its gone for "now" i mean i have a high chance of it coming back again when i take antibiotics.... but the weird diarrhea has not stopped and i get horrible headaches every night in the same spot sometimes i get sharp pains in my lower chest area, i get nausea's when i eat and my moms friend said it could very much be my gallbladder cause she had to get hers removed before and has been threw it. im really not to sure, im scared. please please let me know you opinion, i would much rather a doctors opinion, or someone who knows what their talking about. not someone with stupid crap they read off the internet if their not 100% sure. thanks(:

I know how to use the Nook Color, but I just got to the WIfi part of the setup. I am in the same room as the router, on a laptop connected to it currently. it is password protected. I typed in the right password on my nook and it said: "Remembered secured with WPA/WPA2 PSK" then it said "Authenticising" and then it said Disabled. WHAT THE HELL? and even when it does say Remembered for long periods of time, it won't let me click the gray thing that says continue with setup. As you can tell, I'm annoyed :)

If you want an e reader that will do that I suggest that you get a tablet like the iPad or the galaxy tab. If you get the eight gig one then it should be within your price range. You would have to get the kindle app or something similar and a text editing app. This would also allow you to do a lot more than any e reader.

Just released from hospital question about dizziness and weakness!?

I'm 32 yes old and have been sick since start of month. Overall I've had a weeks supply of antibiotics and steriods twice and was getting mo better so admitted to hospital where I received oral and iv antibiotics and I got alot better quickly. I had a chest infection that turned nasty! Anyway today I've just been released from hospital and I've 5 more days of 2 lots of antibiotics to take. But since I came home I feel very weak tired and very dizzy when I get up and walk around. Is tat normal?? Will the amount of antibiotics I've taken over last 3 weeks make me feel so weak tired dizzy and sick? How long can I expect to feel like this ?any advice on how to recover better!

What causes and swooshing heartbeat sound in ears?

I only get this when I lay down or stand up and it only lasts a few seconds. I've had my b/p checked more then 5 times in the last 8 weeks by my doctor and it's fine. Had an ECHO, holter monitor, chest xray, EKG and blood work...all normal. I do have a feeling of clogged/full ears, headcases daily for 7 weeks, eye pressure and I have anxiety. Was put on antibiotics for a possible sinus infection in May for 10 days but I don't think that has anything to do with it...any ideas?? On Saturday my left tonsil started feeling a bit sore, so I looked in the mirror and it was red and swollen. What kind of bug bite is this on my toddler's leg?

Sedation is fine u will have someone monitoring u at all times. U will also be hooked up to a machine to monitor ur vitals just like at doctors. Blood pressure cuff on arm the little thing on ur finger they will monitor your heart. They put meds through an IV and tell u to count down from 10 u will fall asleep looking at them watching u. After that they do there thing pulling ur teeth. If ur oxygen goes low they just crank up the oxygen on the machine because u will be on oxygen. U wont remember anything u wont wake up until they wake u up. When u wake up u will be extremely tired wondering what the hell happened. But its really not that bad. Trust me. You can ask the anesthesiologist all these questions hos job is to make u comfortable answering your questions as well as sedate you. Oh and when I had my teeth pulled and they sedated me I felt really jot and my chest got kind of tight and I felt like ants were biting me. I started to panic and they could see that they asked me what was wrong and I told them and they assured me it was ok and gave me some more meds and the symptoms went away. I hope this eases ur mind on it. And good luck.

You need to get checked out with your regular dentist to make sure there is no infection set in,you may need antibiotics if there is. Meanwhile rinse your mouth out with salt water as this will help with healing process.I don't understand why you are still getting pain,the gums soon start to shrink which may cause only minor discomfort.I would urge you to see your dentist sooner rather than later.

So I had my last period on dec.16.2010 last day. I had unprotected sex on the 22nd of dec. And a couple times after that. I had bron and light pink bleeding only when I whippd and not a lot on jan 3/6 and nothing since then.I took 4 hpt and all came out neg except 1 it looked like a very faint line but it could just be my eyes. Who knows. I have had some symptoms: very tired, earlyer on lower back pain and I was nausus but never thru up. Please don't judge I really have no one else to turn to and no adults I can trust to get me to a doc without my mom finding out I don't want to say anything to her until I know for sure that I'm pregnant if I am and I don't drive yet I'm 17. I don't understand why all the pregnancy tests would show up neg if I am preg. And if I'm not do you know any reason why I would not be getting my period? About a week or two ago I took my cat to the vet because she looked sick. She had stuff coming out of her mouth and the outside of her nose was bleeding. The vet told us that her tongue was infected so they gave us some antibiotics that we have to give to her twice daily. Antibiotics causing EXTREME nausea ?

My doctor recently prescribed 100mg Minocycline for my acne and now i'm experiencing extreme nausea, dizziness, and headaches. I know these are all side effects of this drug, but should my nausea be this bad? I haven't vomited yet but I'm terrified that I might. She also said to let her know of any allergic reactions because it is somewhat common with this drug. Could this be an allergic reaction of some sort?

Kidney infection worse after antibiotics?

I have had problems with my kidneys since i was about 8 years old and am now 20, kidney stones, kidney infections, badder and UT infections. I literally have a kidney infection about every 2 months, and between infections i get antibiotics, which normally cures the pain within my 4th pill or so..but they always come back a few weeks to a months later. Well, my symptoms are normally achenes in kidneys, no energy, pain when i pee..that's about it. This infection i have now is different. Ive had it for about 3 months and went to the doctor the other day, not for the infection, but because i was running a fever of 102 and literally felt so weak, i thought i was getting the flu or something. She said i had an infection, so she gave me some pretty strong antibiotics. Ive been taking the antibiotics for about 4 days, and every day the pain in my right kidney will switch to my left and so on. It hurts like a muther to stand up, and my pee is like brown. Why aren't the antibiotics working like they normally do this time..and what should i do?

I go by the saying " You get what you pay for." In the case of the nook v. the kindle I would say the kindle, because while you are paying more for the kindle the are the best quality ebook reader I have seen and used. They are durable, within limits and user-friendly and generally good quality. The only thing I could like of that would be better is the iPad or the iPad 2 with an ebook/kindle app on it, but these are more expensive than the devices. My personal advice would be the kindle.

Taking them on the sugar pilss does nothing to the sugar pills but it can effect what's already been absorbed in your body. You're probably not pregnant but if you'd like to stay that way I suggest using condoms throughout the use of your antibiotics AND two weeks after they've stopped so that the hormones can build back up in your system and stop your ovulation.

I am not a doctor and this is simply a hunch but it could be a bacteria filled substance in your tonsils. I have had that many times. It is a white spec/soft stone type of material that simply builds in your tonsils... As far as I know, it is harmless, but if you look at your tonsils and see "white stuff", take your finger or a cotton swab and try to pick it out. It should come out easily. No need to tear or pull, it simply lays on the surface and is not attached to the tonsil. I would listen to your doctor, and know that what you have may not be what I am thinking... But also make sure that you are NOT hurting yourself to get white stuff out if it is there!! If it is what I'm thinking, it will not be attached, just sitting there. Hope I helped! I am having testicular pain. Is there any significant danger, and what should I do about it?

I am a 16 year old male, and I am having pain localized to the bottom of my left testicle. For a few months about a year and a half ago, I was having similar pain. While it was less severe, it was more frequent. After a while, it simply went away and i thought it was gone until about a week ago when the pain returned stronger than ever. Every other day or so, for the last week, i have had episodes of testicular pain (about a 6 on a scale of 1-10) that last about a minute, then go away. If i touch the bottom of my left testicle during an episode, the pain is significantly increased, but it does not hurt to the touch at any other time. I'm not sure if this is relevant or if this happens to everyone, but my testicles sometimes feel very sore after masturbating. I have done a bit of research, but nothing seems to quite fit my symptoms. I did see one website in which it was suggested that excessive masturbation could be the cause, but I masturbate once a day with rare exception, which would not be considered "excessive." Another website suggested a bacterial infection, but I have been on antibiotics multiple times over the last year for sinus infections, and I do not have a Fever or any other symptoms of infection, so that is pretty much ruled out. Some websites suggested that it may be an STD, but I am a virgin which rules that out. Another has been testicular torsion, which, as this has been inconsistent pain for more than a year, it seems unlikely. I have also come across testicular cancer as a possibility, but i checked and did not notice any abnormalities or differences between my two testicles. Additionally, there is absolutely no history of cancer in my family except for my grandmother who has lymphoma so mild that nothing needed to be done about it. Finally, there has been no potential injury to my testicles. Do you have any other ideas of what it could be? Do you think there is any significant immediate danger? Thank you so much.

High heart rate & thick blood?

I went to Dr other day to get my thyroid lab results & he said I'm at high risk for heart attack because my blood is way too thick & thyroid is messed up again (i'm hypothyroid)..my heart rate at appointment was 121 when I was just sitting around..not doing anything strenuous at all..blood pressure was like 134/95...could my thyroid being messed up be the reason for the thick blood and high heart rate? I don't have an infection but I lost my baby at 5 months on April 11th & had a bad infection in my uterus & bladder then & was on antibiotics almost 2 months (clindamycin). I have an incompetent cervix is why I lost baby early & the infection at time. I'm 21 year old female btw. Also dr put me on baby aspirin at bedtime & a weight loss pill called Diethylpropion. He said it would make me lose weight, feel really good & lots of energy. I weigh 173lbs & 5'4". My question is what could be causing the high heart rate & thick blood?

I need help with my wireless internet?

I have an airport extreme base station wireless router. Before that I had the plain old linksys router that nearly every store has. When I was using the linksys router, every device in our house connected to the internet. Now however, with a much more capable router, some of our devices will not connect to the internet. We have 2 ipod touches, two MacBooks, a nook color and a ps3. currently, the two ipods and two computers will connect, but the nook and the ps3 will not. For instance if i unplug the router, then the ps3 will work, but one of the macbooks will not. we often have to reset the router each time we want a device to run, but that should not be the case. Each device has the correct password saved on them and has connected to the internet at least once in the past week. It is getting really frustrating. Any ideas?

Lots of watery discharge but no odour?

I have had sex twice unprotected with the same guy. After the first time, i got a burning sensation down below and it was itchy. I had lots of watery discharge coming out like a period but with no odour at all. He claims he pulled out before ejaculation. I have been on the pill for 3 years but took 2 antibiotics (Amoxicilin) yesterday but stopped taking them. After the second time, the itching has stopped and there is still no smell. It burns to urinate and there is so much watery discharge. What could this be? What are the chances of me being pregnant? Question about conception/implantation..?

Ok, so lately I have been outside a lot so i get bug-bites. But two days ago I noticed bites (at least i think they are) in areas which are covered by clothing. Then they would itch worse than the regular mosquito bites and would burn like a sunburn if you touch them. I also found one kind of below my armpit that is swollen and red and inflamed. Is this some allergic reaction? Or a severe rash? A bite? I used anti itch antibiotic but it didn't help at all. It seems to get larger everyday and I'm worried about this being serious. My grandparents are both British citizens bron in England. My father was born in Tanganyika in 1954 (colony) and live there until he was 2. My grandparents then moved back to England and my father lived there until he was 20 before he emigrated to Canada. My parents married and I was born in 1982 in Canada. I can't understand what's going on with my health?

I'm a 41 year old female that has always been healthy until about a year ago. I am overweight, but I don't drink or smoke and last year I started eating healthy and losing the excess weight..The problems started with sore throat that has never gone away, along with the sore throat I had an aching body (similar to light flu symptoms).I have been to the GP who has told me I have acid reflux but the medication I took made no difference whatsoever.Saw a consultant and did some test and discovered I had a small hernia and H.Pylori. I was given triple therapy(antibiotics) for the H.Pylori which I completed but the symptoms of a sore throat persist. When my sore throat feels really sore my ears get affected and I find my hearing muffled. Several times I have had the glands behind one of my ears swell up considerably for a few days at a time then they settle.Now I have started hearing clicking sounds from various parts of my body but for the past 10 ten days every time I walk I have an almost continuous clicking sound coming from my foot or knee (I am not sure which) which is so annoying. I have no swelling or direct pain but tenderness which could be what I have been mistaking for a sore body for the last few months.This afternoon the inside of my left arm is red and very hot to the touch. I know something is wrong but my previous GP has not diagnosed me so I have now just moved to a new GP after being with the previous GP for a year and a half and having no concrete diagnosis . On Monday I am seeing the Ear Nose and Throat specialist,and I want to request that my GP gets me to do a full and comprehensive blood test.I did a bone density scan a few months ago and I got the all clear, I did a full blood count beginning of last year and I got the all clear, so I have no idea what is going on with me healthwise. I know my immune system is compromised as I have facial warts (not very visible unless you look closely, if anything they look like tiny pimples) and that is a sign of an immune system that is weak otherwise the body would have fought off the herpes virus (which is what facial warts is). What can I do to get to the bottom of this? GP's seem to be clueless and in the year that I have had the symptoms, I keep getting additional symptoms that do not go away, I am really worried as I have always been healthy with only very minor issues that I managed to cure very fast. Any insights would be helpful.

Wireless mouse suddenly losing signal/range?

I have a logitech wireless mouse/keyboard combo (not even sure of the model..it's about 5 years old) and the mouse has suddenly (within the last 24 hours) lost it's range almost entirely. It was working fine one moment and then it began not moving/responding when clicking. I've determined that the receiver is fine, as the keyboard still works from over 10 feet away, however the mouse won't respond if it's further than 12 inches from the receiver. I've tried it on another computer and the results are the same...interference isn't an issue, it's the mouse itself. I've tried changing batteries, I've cleaned every nook and cranny to make sure something isn't somehow mucking up the internal radio...am I stuck with having to buy a new mouse? Like I said, the keyboard maintains its range, meaning that the receiver itself and interference aren't the issue.

Nook vs. Kindle .... which to choose?

I am going to get a nook/kindle for my birthday from someone and I get to pick if I want a kindle, or a nook. I'm a book worm and I don't mind if there isn't color. I want a big range of books to choose from, and I don't want something too expensive. I would like color if it were possible to get it, but it isn't my main focus at all.

Is it worth it to get a Nook Color for college?

Honestly, I wouldn't get it to replace your text books. What happens if a lot of your text books aren't available in digital format? Yeah it's easier to highlight and bookmark things but you can't just sell the books to someone else who might need the book next year and you can't sell it back to the book store. I would just stick with text books for school. That being said I have the original first generation Nook and I absolutely love it. I would definitely recommend getting it if you have time between classes and you don't want to carry novels around for you. Just be careful, things like that tend to get stolen so keep a close eye on it.

Urge to urinate after UTI treatment?

I was prescribed Bactrim for 3 days and my symptoms nearly went away (burning sensation, sharp pain) but the urge to urinate is still present. I went to the doctor again today and she said that she can't prescribe me more antibiotics since I'm not in pain anymore. After that, she told me to come back in 2-3 weeks if it gets worse. I don't know what to do, I can't even sleep! I feel like I need to use the bathroom 24/7 and it gets in the way of my daily activities. I don't really get why people are so obsessed with what people think is better. Both products are good for their own reasons. Just go with what you will personally use more. I personally like the kindle a lot, but I don't hate the nook by any means. They are more or less the same product and choosing one over the other is a kind of bias. I chose the kindle because it is more ecofriendly and itcaters more towards readers specifically. The kindle is an all right web browser though it isnt the best. If youre impatient like most people today youll probably hate it. It gets me to where I need to ggo and that is all I need. Nook has more capabilities when it comes to internet. also its in color but If you use it for reading I dont see why it would matter considering paper books are in black and white. I prefer kindle but the nook can shine in its own right too. this is your decision not ours. youll make the right one.

Ok, i got my first kindle on christmas last year in 2010. In February of this year it broke. I returned it a week ago after I was sure I could not fix it myself. They sent me a new one a couple of days ago. Last night i was reading, and it suddenly switched off on me. It was fully charged. My grandparents are both British citizens bron in England. My father was born in Tanganyika in 1954 (colony) and live there until he was 2. My grandparents then moved back to England and my father lived there until he was 20 before he emigrated to Canada. My parents married and I was born in 1982 in Canada. Ok so I first started off with sanding everything down with a 400 grit sander, then I moved up to an 800 grit sander. I started my polishing with a yellow airway and brown rouge. It looks pretty good, however it's not close to being a mirror finish. I'm also getting a lot of smudging, and cant seem to get rid of it. Just for kicks, I tried the white airway buffer and the white polishing bar and it made my finish look even worse. Is the trick of the finish in the sanding? My father is 76 yrs old and has been admitted in hospital. He was detected with pneumonia. X ray and Scan of Thorax (CRCT) was done which still shows some patch. Experience with putting a cast on a horse?

I worked for a vet for four years and only ever saw one horse with a cast on. It was a young thoroughbred colt that was born with retracted tendons. He had surgery to correct the retracted tendon on one of his front legs and had a cast on it. He was unable to bend his knee, therefore was unable to walk on his own. There was staff with him around the clock to feed him milk out of a bucket, lift him to his feet and walk him around the barn aisle for exercise. He could walk with his other legs okay, but we had to loop a lead rope around the leg in the cast and pull it out to the side and place it in front of him with every stride. He then needed help laying back down. He needed tended to every two hours and we had to flip him over ever so often to make sure he wasn't always laying on the same side. Little Philip never "messed up" his cast. It was applied at the clinic immediately following his surgery but I imagine the vet could bring the supplies to your farm instead of having you trailer an injured horse. However, if you can afford it, you may want to trailer him in and let him stay with the vet for a while if it's an injury that severe and if he is as high maintenance with a cast on as Philip was. It was hard enough to care for him with a full staff of veterinary employees. I can't imagine trying to care for him on my own. But you have to keep in mind that every case is different. Just listen to your vet's recommendations, follow their instructions, and hope for a fast recovery!

My doctor just told me I have chlamydia, and that I need to go on antibiotics for it. At first I was disgusted and furious with my boyfriend, but then we found out its pretty common and is easily treated. Then I found out you need special medicine if you're pregnant... so here's the long part of my story/question. The whole reason I got the chlamydia is because I went on birth control May 29, we stopped using condoms June 9, and I quit taking the bc but kept having unprotected sex June 12. (everyday between June 9 and June 16 we had unprotected sex) So I didn't really think I was pregnant, on June 17 I got my period, which usually lasts 6-9 days. This time it was pretty light and only lasted four days. I thought nothing of it until a couple days ago I started having frequent urination and being really tired/not being able to sleep at night. This morning when I woke up I felt very nauseous. I went back to sleep and when I got back up I felt fine. I'm also very emotional and having mood swings. More than normal hah. Do probiotic drinks really work?

Never heard of probiotic drinks. Probiotics are very good to take if you are on, or have just taken, a lot of antiobiotics. It's easier to take it in pill form. I would suggest florajen. If you don't like taking capsules, you could also eat a lot of yogurt. Just make sure the yogurt has ‘live and active cultures.’ (it should say so on the label.)

My mom has been getting this rash. It started on her hands very scaly and itchy then turned red. The rash eventually continued all over her body. It looks like little red dots some are individual and some are clustered together. A couple of them are starting to burst and bleed. She went to a dermatologist and they said it was seborrheic keratosis but, the symptoms and images are just not matching up with her problem. They are making her go for shots every week and her take antibiotics to help but, i don't want her doing that when she don't need it or it might not even be the problem.She is going for a second opinion soon.
